Software update

Does anyone know of a software update available for a June 07 X5. I have a USB integrated ipod system which works fine except that when you want to scroll to a new artist/song/album etc. you have to start at A and work your way down. I have 20gb on the ipod so to get a track with an alphabetic listing such as T takes forever. The Bluetooth phone system is listed with Alphabetic headers so you just go to T then scroll down that selection. Would make sense for the iPod to be the same. Also I now have a 3g iPhone but the Bluetooth keeps refusing to connect so I have to unpair and then pair each time I enter the car.

Any ideas?

No software update to provide that capability as I understand.. I have a 160gb ipod connected (with about 70gb used) and unfortunately you have to scroll your way through... would be intereted though to see if anyone has a different experience ...

I have a Jan 07 3.0si and have had the software updated 3 times, first time for the steering wheel issue, second for a transmission shift issue, and last week for the parking brake fail issue. The updates may not help your iPod, but if you haven't had one yet, it'll prob help some other systems in your X5.

My ipod connector is a PITA, using a 60GB it wont random shuffle unless I bang the idrive controller 4 times, forcing a next random selection. It seems the problem is the way the ipod interfaces with the idrive. Initially I could only scroll by artist, despite all my ipod tunes being stored in one root directory only which is crap. However, I bought an ipod touch and shared my song directory with it, and whadaya know It list all my songs alphabetically, which is as damn good as random when played in the car, so now when you hit next, even if it doesnt finish a track, its as random as you can get (without memorising the sequence of the 4000 tracks in the ipod that is )

I use a 160gb Ipod and have no issues with listing Artist , Album etc... and Random works so long as you give it some time after replugging the ipod in after an update.

Is there separate software updates for different parts of the vehicle? For example, if you have your X's transmission software updated, does it also update everything else in the car like the iDrive system and such, or does it only update the transmission and nothing else?

^ everything at once... firmware releases are a bunch of fixes in one package and takes a full day to apply.

Had a couple of PMs asking about the software updates. Here's the answers:
- Not sure if software update fixed the transmission shift issue, or if I've just gotten used to it. Seems it's smoother.
- The steering wheel issue (not moving after starting) is fixed.
- The parking brake seems to be working (after three failures). Software seems to have fixed the problem.
