No regrets here. Very happy moving from E53 to E70.

The third row seat is not for everybody. It's not a peoplemover because of the limited space and leg room but don't listen to people who says they are useless. It worked out for me hauling my daughter's friends to basketball practice or going to Six Flags. Way better than driving a minivan. If I need a real people mover, I would probably get a GL550.

If you don't need the third row, don't get it.

No regrets here either getting into the E70 after two E53s. I was apprehensive, but the E70 blows away the E53 as far as I'm concerned. Good luck. You won't be disappointed.

The white I do see more than grays, surprisingly. If I had to rank popularity/commonality around here, it would be:

1) black
2) white
3) gray

But none of the whites I've seen have the aero kit/214s... yay. A lot are apparently satisfied with the 212s. And not many are crazy enough to spend $2k+ on 2 pieces of plastic for aesthetics only. IMO, it's too plain without it. I still stare at it just to stare at it. You need to be happy with your decision so I don't think anyone but yourself should decide a color is or isn't a good choice.

With that said, I have a thing for white BMWs of any [recent] model.

White and Gray with the aero kit + 20's really are stunners, just beautiful. For whatever reason, the Sport's look ok without any extra pieces like aero-kit, but the non-Sports do look really bland. Then again, it was the same way with the E53.

Decided to go for it and picked it up about an hour ago - so far it is fantastic. Sounds better, feels better, looks better - I am now convinced - it is better. Wont use 3rd row often only for visiting family members, kids friends etc. Time for the mods too start, will be at the dealer tomorrow to order aero kit.
Thanks for all the responses will post some pics tomorrow.

X5SA,

Your choice is a great one IMO! I bought my wife an Alpine White w/kit and 20 chrome 214's (had to have it looking right when/if I drive it). If you want to see her truck with the kit go to my profile.

20 in Style #214 Chromed
HR lowering springs (est 1.8 inch fr/ 1.5 r)
Tire sensors
20x10.5/20x9.5 Michellin's
Alpine White Aero Kit
Titanium Grills

I am not a big fan of white on SUVs, but if you like it, buy it. I test drove an used E53 4.8is and two E70s 3.0is and 4.8i. The E70 handles much better than the E53 with the sport package. Not sure how much it costs in SA, but it is worth every penny here in the US. Go ahead and test drive it. You will love it.
