Cooled cup holders?

I searched the forum but could not find an answer. The manual does not mention this as well. Are the cup holders in the front are cooled? I had my AC on and I found out that the soda stayed cold for almost an hour. I touched the cup holder base and it felt really cold. Did you know this?

Additionally, the center arm rest compartment is cooled as well. If the AC is on, the compartment is cold inside. I was pleasantly surprised to find about this after few months owning the car.

I knew about the center arm rest compartment being cooled, but didn't know about the cup holders.

I also noticed the center console cup holders kept my soda can cool. I assumed it was from the A/C vent, but perhaps there is more to it.

Nice to have, but i'd rather have BMW focus on getting the car properly air conditioned (given all the compliants with inadequate a/c) rather than glove compartments.

I think a lot of this probably has to do with the fact that the ducting to the rear seats runs under the cupholders and armrest. You might find it is heated in the winter when the heater is on.

Correct. My Ipod is freezing cold in the summer each time I take it out of the armrest console.

Yeah, my iphone is feezing cold in the center armrest and it is really pissing me off. If I have the rear vents open then it does not get as cold. It has to be something with the ducting and there is probably leaks in the ducts. I even thought about taking the car back in because I am afraid my iphon/ipod etc. are going to get ruined by the condensation.
