At about 2,000 miles.

I'm not driving the car hard (light foot at the moment).

But city driving is about 11 mpg.

City with some highway (traffic) it goes up to about 12-13 mpg.

City with highway (no traffic), I get about 14.5 mpg.

No City and a lot of highway is about 16-17 mpg.

The 4.8 engine is so thristy. But it really delivers a nice drive.

Your mileage will get a lot better after 10,000 miles or so.

Does it get faster, too? Not that it's slow by any means now but I know BMW engines have a tendency to loosen up around 5-7,000 miles. Mine had about 70 miles on it when I picked it up and now at 1000 miles and I can already tell a difference.

About 12.5 in town- less than 700 miles so far, has not been on the highway yet. (Hurricane Ike struck right after I got it, so there hasn't been much opportunity to do anything fun with it!)

About 5,000 miles, and I'm averaging 12.9 mpg. I briefly saw 13.1, but... like I said, that was short-lived. I'll caveat this by saying I'm a lead foot. I hardly ever drive under (that's right under) 85 on the highway.

My mileage varies with speed and whether I get gas with 10% ethanol. I am under 5K and the best so far was 21 mpg going ths speed limit on a freeway with 10% ethanol and running heated seats and every other feature I needed.

Are you saying you get better mileage with ethanol? Mine appeared to drop in all vehicles when ethanol was made mandatory around here (TX).

No. Better mileage w/o ethanol so when I got 21 then it should have been higher if it was pure gas.
