14/19!!! OMFG...what are they smoking? Honestly, I average a solid 10-11 mpg. I've contacted both my selling dealer's service Dept., and a closer, more local one...and they both said 10-12 mpg is about what one can expect with a 4.8i. If you are getting 14/19....you are damn lucky!!! Also, for those who "think" they're getting great mileage in a 4.8i (more than the 14/19, you cannot rely on what the OBC says, those are really, really happy numbers!!

I get 16 to 21 MPG driving really gently (seldom above 2500 rpm). I've seen posts here of up to 30 MPG with the 4.8i (highway exclusive that is).

I do my calc on number of liters put in (on my gas bill from the pump) vs the distance travelled on odometer. I cannot rely on the OBC because it is a real-time rate not an overall average consumption rate.

Also, as I live in Canada, we get winter gas additives, i use heated seats, steering wheel heating, idling to scrape snow, etc and my winter MPG is worse- at around 12-19 range.

My average has been 14.1 MPG. And more than 80% of my driving has been on freeways!!! I never see see good MPG rates because of the speeds that I drive though

12,500 miles

In town 12 mpg

Highway 19 mpg

Overall 16 mpg

Not great, but then it's lots of fun to drive!

someone correct me if I'm wrong but with this you get 14MPG BUT you don't pay for brakes or oil change right? Where as a Merc you'd pay for both? And crappy gas
