Angry My New E70 Problems so far on & on & on & on.......

I took delivery of my new X5 3.0SDm Sport on 1st March after being very happy with my 2nd hand Y reg E53 that had 77000 miles on the clock and had no problems with my e53 except for needing a water pump 3 weeks after buying it.

On my E70 here are my problems so far......
  • 3 weeks and 700 miles a PDC was sensing ghosts and was replaced
  • 1 week after that the tailgate started groaning when I opened it and they replaced a damper
  • Couple of weeks later the trim started peeling from the sills on both sides and they replaced them both
  • The back door was leaking water through the rubber seal allowing puddles of water onto the back seat and they reaplaced the entire seal.
over the last 2 months the car has been back to the dealer no less than 4 times because of water comming in through the front curtesy light - not dripping - PROURING - I was actually getting wet and each time they say that they cannot find a leak.

The 3 & 4th time it's was in (3rd time for 2 days & 4th time for 10 days) was because of the car being like a sauna after a rain shower I've attchedsome photos to show the windows after a spell of rain for a couple of hours and then, sunshine.

The instrument panel stated a failure in
N/S Headlamp
N/s Foglamp rear
O/s Indicator rear
o/s Reverse Lamp Rear
N/s Indicator front
I was not happy !!!!

They told me that they found a grommet that has all cables between the tailgate and main body of the car had become undone and was letting in water. They also added that this was not under warranty because the grommet had become undone when the tracker was fitted by my car audio security dealer and BMW charged me £940 to fix and dry out the car & carpets.

I was not convinced because the car is parked on a flat or on the drive facing upwards and didnt know that water can travel upwards unassisted as the grommet is lower in the vehicle than the curtesy light.
Also why was this not noticed when they fixed the tailgate dampener ?anyway I paid it and was assured that the problem was resolved - they stated that the carpets are still a touch damp and would dry out in a couple of days.

When I received my car, I discovered that they had damaged the interior front door panel so drove back and after inspection, they agreed to replace the trim which meant that my car had to be booked in for the 9th time. and they have now replaced the trim.

The car has it's 10th booking on the 17th of december because the carpets are now wetter than they have ever been and they have agreed that the front is wetter than the back and will investigate yet another leak.

I have told them that I do not want the car back untill its fixed and would be requesting a replacment as it's only done 5000miles and been in the dealerhip 10 times and has caused me nothing but stress as now the carpets are starting to smell like sweaty feet which isnt good because my wife can smell a moth fart from a 100 yeards away so she will not get in it now.

Not good after spending £59000 on a car and not having any enjoyment from it.

Needless to say that I havnt sold my E53 as I'm driving that all the times my E70 is away.

Find a new service department, obviously they do not know what they are doing.
