Problem with Control Display (Navigation Screen) E70

I have a problem with Control Display (Naviation Screen) Everything seems to be working just fine, but it just doens't light up. I can see everything dimmy lit in the back ground. Just don't know what's wrong with it. Any ideas??

Go can try going into the idrive menu and set the screen brightness.

Are your tachometer oranges really dim too? The whole dashboard including the screen brightness is also controlled by the vertical dial next to your headlight switch.

check the fuse located in the trunk ,right compartament ( E53).....though not the fuse is the problem but it helps .I have the same problem but when I need to see the nav screen I unplug the fuse and then 1,2 sec put it back (engine idle)...it works ...life is back on the nav's screen.I dont know what's the deal but I'm not taking the car to the dealership cause they r idiots (VOB Rockville MD) and they will ask me to change the entire dash for sure . Let me know if u find out what is the cause

Thanks for all your help. I will try to pull out the fuse to reset the screen.

Brightness on other area like tachometer and airconditioning panel are fine. This problem used to be able to fix by shut down the engine then restart it, but now it's just very very dark. You can see everthing on NAV screen if you use flashlight or dome light. Have no ideas on what's going on. My car only 8 months old. Maybe it got used to the heat in the Middle East and when Temp drop down to like 14 C it just freek out.

Brightness on I-Drive screen is already at the max. So, I think that something wrong with the system not the operator.

Question Did you ever find out what the probelm was?

I have the same problem. doesn't happen all the time. Screen is dark but the information is there if you use a light source. Everything else works fine. Screen lighting comes back after removing FOB and giving things a rest.

Sounds like the back light in the LCD screen is faulty. Take to dealer and ask for a new screen.

I took mine to the dealer back in December. Now still waiting for a new NAV information Display. The dealer kept telling me that BMW Germany ran out of this part and have to wait for this display from the manufacture. So sick of waiting. Now the display works like normal, but I still want to have it replace cuz every now and then the same problem still occur.
