Replacing trim
Hi folks
I'm new to the world of X5's so hopefully you guys can help me out a bit. So I currently own a 2008 M3, but for one reason or another I'm going to trade it out for a X5. Now I want to get the 35d, however the dealer has a 4.8i on the lot with the same spec as I would order with the 35d other than the trim. He's willing to do a very good deal on the car on the lot, for obvious reasons! The problem is, I dont like the dark wood trim. I would order the aluminum or bamboo if I could configure it myself. The question is, could I replace the trim? I've done it before on the E46 ... but has anyone done it on the E70? Many thanks, Adrian |

The trim is not difficult to replace. I have not done it on the E70 but I have replaced it on the X5 E53. Almost all of the pieces snap on and can be pryed off. The only difficult piece was the centre console which had to come out. The aluminium trim cost me $700 for the E53 and I believe it's quite a bit more for the E70! Maybe work out a deal with the dealer - Tell them you will pay for the new trim if they pay for the labour to replace it, or at least give you a break on the labour if you don't want to tackle it yourself! I wouldn't lose out on a good deal just cos of the trim!
