great in snow

I'm still amazed how well the X5 performs in the snow and I don't understand why it doesn't get more attention for it's 4-wheel drive capabilities. I've owned 2 Landcruisers previous to my 4.8 and I prefer the X for it's superior balance and Dynamic Traction Control. I know there are many on this forum who don't like the 18" runflat Bridgestones but I think they provide the perfect road feel when dry and amazing traction in rain/snow. They also last upwards of 40k miles. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. http://www.xoutpost.com/images/smilies/thumbup.gif

I haven't had the E70 out in the snow yet, but the E53 was great. I had 18" Michelin's and was driving on roads that very few other cars/SUV's were venturing out on.

drove in my Toyo Proxes all-seasons & 20s just fine again in 2" of snow. No problems.

I got a 328xi loaner (for '09, they call them 328i with xdrive badging on the side actually - that threw me)... and you can tell the 17s were more ideal in the snow, but the 20s did not falter all that much more. I think the weight of the X helps it too. I was so glad to be back in the X... the difference in comfort was night and day, to be honest. The interior is much better done as well... it made me appreciate it more.

And for anyone interested... the lighter 328 @ 230hp is worse than the heavier X5 @ 260hp.

I was going to drive it in the snow today...but with just 100 miles on the ODO, I wanted to break it in first...
