I received an email from a highly reliable source at BMW this morning as follows...this was confirmation enough for me to decline delivery on our '10 Xdrive 30:

Good to hear from you.

This is what I have on the specs:

1.) 4.4 liter 8 cylinder turbo charged gas

400hp (increase of 50hp)

2.) Valvetronic 6 cylinder 3.0 turbo charged gas (BMW TwinPower Turbo)

300hp (increase of 40hp)

3.) 3.0 Diesel engine with Common Rail 3 Technology

180 kW (increase of 7kW)

4.) 40d top-diesel engine (BMW TwinPower Turbo)

225 kW (increase of 15kW)

The launch date is scheduled for May 2010, so I would assume it would be a 2011 model.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Best,
xxxx

exciting times for the new to-be owners... I wish I could've waited this long.

BTW, what's the increase on #3 about? And I thought the 40d wasn't coming to the US.

I think 3 & 4 are in kw as they are for the EU market only. Maybe the 35d will keep it's engine in the US?

so is the 40d coming to the U.S. or not? I have an order that should be delivered in the next 5 week for a 35d and I'm wondering if I should cancel....

As for the 40d, it doesn't sound like it will make it to the US. The diesel seems like a test at this point and I don't see them changing it at this point. So much money to certify for the US market.

Otherwise, I am in exactly the same situation as MPowerFarmer. My car is "In production with no confirmed build date." I got a great deal, 1k over invoice and the 4500 eco credit, so wondering if it is worth holding off for the 2011.

if 2011 is no improvement power, stick with it, for $4500 off credit lol

Most likely I will just keep it as ordered. I'm sure they will drop the MF and/or raise the residuals to bring them to a similar price point as the eco credit. Same thing happened with the Holiday Credit cars in January. Without the Holiday Credit, but the improved numbers, they are only $20/month more.
