Has anyone tried using Tire Repair Kit, like sealant with air compressor?
or the can tire sealant and air? Do they work well? http://www.canadiantire.ca/browse/pr...romSearch=true |

We got a nail in the RFT on our 2008 with 1200 kms on it. BMW said it had to be replaced. I didn't have the warranty and the tire wasn't in stock. I took it to a tire shop and they repaired it for me. I couldn't believe that BMW would suggest throwing a brand new tire in the garbage dump. Seems a little unfriendly to the environment in my mind. Just my two cents worth.

> you already have a run flat, so it is redundant.
I have such a kit (Slime) even though I have runflats, as if I can stop the leak and reflate, I do not have to worry about ruining the runflat by driving too far or too fast. I figure the runflat feature gets me to a convenient and safe place to use the Slime, and the Slime gets me to the tire store of my choice without damaging the tire. |

The only concern that I have with the sealant kits is that users may decide that they constitute a repair, and continue to drive on them. Bad plan.
As a belt and braces approach, I understand carrying either a sealant kit or a portable 12 v compressor. A compressor by itself would be an alternative to the sealant, unless it is a very fast leak. My back up to the runflats is a cell phone. Back before the advent of cell phones, I never carried two spare tires except for extended off road trips.
