Unhappy Front Air Vents are not blowing air!

Back vents seem to work just fine but I've tried every configuration in the Climate control NAV Screen and pressed the MAX air button but there is no air is blowing out.

I'll be taking it to the dealer tomorrow morning but is there something I am doing wrong? I searched on the forum and learned of the same issue on an E53 but my E70 has less then 6K miles on it.

You're help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I have to ask - are the vents open (the vertical wheel next to the vents should be slid to the top)?

LOL - Yes!

That was the first item on my mental checklist.

We had several E53 X5s, and this never happened. Both my '07 and '08 E70 had this problem. 2 dealers said that most of the new BMWs (new 3er and X5 especially) have sub par climate. If you think yours is ok, once you drive in a new(er) Benz, Audi, Lexus, Range Rover, etc...You will see that the climate control in the E70 kinda sucks.

Man - That was painful to read.

I do remember my Toyota 4 Runner blowing all the air I would ever need. I'm sure the AC works on German specs.

airflow does suck in the E70... either you get nothing or a deafening blast, which still could be better. Plus I haven't figured out why the rear blows hot air (when set to do so) only whenever it feels like doing it.

E70 ac is mediocre at best...if you live in a hot climate it pretty much sucks.

Did you go to the vent flow control screen and modify individual vent flows? I had that issue, I had mixed up my wife's keys with mine, the key memory holds the AC/vent information as well, after I adjusted it has been working fine.

I did have issues with my E36 AC. It absolutely sucked, I think it was just designed for Germany where people start taking off clothes when the temp hits high 70s and not for the Texas weather where winters mean, high 90s E70 AC is definitely much better but my half priced Honda Accord blows better any day.

Something I LOVE about my new Range Rover, is for the A/C, you just hit Auto and set the temperature. Just like with all Benzes, Audis, Porsche, Lexus, etc, etc...Auto is Auto. It is SO absurd (and does not work) that the E70 has this separate Climate screen in iDrive, with pointless, confusing settings...add red bars, add blue bars, air flow distribution, low, medium high. WTF?? The E53 X5, and other BMWs...you just hit Auto. Easy, to the point!! My first summer with the X5 here in So California was miserable. Too little airflow, not cold enough, then too cold, too loud, erratic pressure for front vents, rear vents on & off working. E70 Climate totally sucks.

Before I took delivery of the Range Rover, I was reading in the brochure about how quiet the A/C was and that the A/C evaporator is about 15% larger and stronger than in comparable luxury SUVs (maybe due to use in hot African safaris? Anyway, even with the A/C on Max, you can use the bluetooth for the phone and carry on a civil, normal voiced conversation. And, like I said...Just hit Auto. Voila...A/C or heat, and distribution and flow is automatic, and spot on!!

P.S.

So after I went on & on about how amazing and efficient my Climate Control is in my new Rover...I want to say that you E70 owners are lucky in terms of hitting a curve/turn with some speed. Lots of fun and tight in the X5...uh, not so fun and tight in the Big Range Rover!!
