Extended Warranty

i average 20k miles per year so as such i would be out of warranty in less than 2.5 years. at about 60k miles an X5 needs front axle work. the V8 requires a valley gasket replacement at or around the same mileage.

for me it was a no-brainer. i bought the extended warranty at delivery. at best i will get 5 years out of it all told. i also purchased the extended maintenance as there is little if anything BMW can say is my expense for at least 5 years. tires, but shit, who really wants run-flats.

I just hit 104k miles and I am a moron for not purchasing the extended warranty form BMW and BMW only.....

I would of saved atleast $3-4K in repairs I had done yet would of had the "small" things repaired that are covered under the warranty that are still broken and probably stay broken forever.......

JUST BUY IT- IF YOU PLAN TO HAVE IT UNTIL 100K

I'm an AHO for not buying it....How much does BMW want for it these days?

^ I plan to have it to 100k but at this rate I drive that would be 20 years. The warranty would only go up to 6 or 7 total years of the vehicle's life... I'm not sure in my situation if it's worth it to pay $2k for 10k mi (those 2 extra years). Seeing my Isuzu (not the best reliability) go up to 13 years (100k mi.) before needing any work at all - and no warranty would cover at that point - I'm just gonna bank the cash and use it as I go. Hopefully BMW will be better than Isuzu.

Yeah I would have to agree with you if you don't put a lot on miles on odds are in your favor you won't need any major repairs. I've had very little go wrong with my '01 e53--only 86K miles and it's 8 years old so below average wear and tear.
