2008 X5 computer changes help!

Gave up my lexus RX350 for this 2008 X5...bad mistake!!!! This X5 has such annoyning features you cant close the rear hatch from anywhere else expect the button the on hatch, 5 years ago i was closing it from the remote and inside the cabin....Does any know if it is possible to reprogram the BMW computer to do this? can you change the computer so the car doesnt go into park when you open the door while you are in drive?

My car does not go into park when I open my door in drive. Also, you could close the rear hatch by holding the tailgate button on the key.

both of the above are safety features, even if they are annoying. They don't want to get sued by the sue-happy Americans (because they let it work in other countries). And I don't believe anyone here has ever gotten their dealer to change these.

I have a 2009. Hold the button on the key for 10-15 seconds and see if it closes. Usually it takes about 5 seconds. I was pissed off as well when I thought that the back was the only way to close it, but I figured out the key trick after a while.

Did you buy in LA or Dubai? Like I said it works for vehicles spec'd for outside the US.
