E70 Squeaky brakes

Just took delivery of new X5 35 Diesel and have put on 1000 KM ...the braes have started squeaking. The ambient temperature is -15 C. Is this normal?

Just drive for another 1500kms and it will stop doing that.

i noticed that when my brakes squeak they produce very little (almost none) brake dust. but now that the squeaking has gone, the brake dust production has been working overtime!

correlation?

Thanks for the advice. Wonder whether it had to do with just having gone through a pressure car wash to clean off all the winter grime.
X5 performing great through this winter in Alberta...its late March and it just dumped 40 cm !
The 4 Zone climate control is just brilliant! Am using the 19 in All weather run flats that came with the Sports Package.

Gentle use of the brakes often leads to squeaks. If you can do 2 or 3 aggressive stops is a safe location, there's a good chance the squeaks will leave for a while. (note, I said aggressive, not "panic" stops)

My brakes squeak a lot on the abnormally cold days. Relatively silent otherwise. See if it happens when it warms up.

Squeaking brakes on the e70 is "normal." It's been discussed here several times. If you do a search, you'll find the threads. Get used to it.
