I have a friend from Kansas. He loves Chrome on his car. It makes sense.

Having your plate in the window just looks a bit trashy (looks like the car is falling apart and can't even hold the plates, imo).

Beacuse your vehicle is already a priemium eye catcher (a wow car!) the cops will notice it more and they will notice you don't have the state plate on the vehicle.
Although the cops do seem to leave the old junker cars alone even when not having front and rear plate but just a paper copy of the plate on the windshield.

I know people that got pulled over a couple of times because they didn't have the front plate on their premium vehicle, though it was on the windshield but I think that got the cops attention even more.

That is what I meant, the plate is inside the car window/windshield.

Some people never get pulled over for that and some do.
It only takes one bad mood cop then your be sorry...
But it is risk, it is a risk also that they may fine something else wrong they when pulled over (beer bottles in the back seats, smell like marijuana, forgot license/ownership in other pants, no seat belt on etc...)

He said he has the plate in the car, not in the window. I said I had it in my REAR window and it did not look tacky because there was an authentic german plate affixed to the back. The license plate was in the rear window but it was very much concealed by the rear window tint. So it was barely noticeable (which was why I was pulled over) and did not look like it was falling apart at all. In fact, if you look at the picture in my avatar, a plate was in the rear window then.

Is your X5 an import from Europe?
Is that why you the euro style plate are on the X5 and not the state plates or is it just vanity?
I can certainly see why people like the Euro plates better, it sleeker and fits more contour with the cars/SUVs.

I know some who done this.
If the Euro plate are the original, you can send those plates to the License Office and request for state certification on your Euro plates. The cost is the same as Vanity plates.

If I was a cop and saw a vehicle with two plates I would pulled them over too just to find out why and if plates are registered to that vehicle's VIN.

Can you post a pic of the rear view camera at night with the fog lights? Also, is this something the dealer can do or is it going to void some warranty.

I think doing mods on cars is a Northeast and California thing--seems more popular there.

absolutely sinister! great looking ride. Agree that the front looks so much better without the plate. That's why I'm installing a motorized james-bondish unit.
