Software upgrade X5 E70

I've just purchased a brand new X5 in Norway. It's a 3.0 D, but due to a rather unique tax-system in this country, the engine is tuned downwards to 211 bhp (500NM) from 235. As far as I understand, not one single physical peace is changed - it's only about software. Any idea out there on how to get it back to (at least) its original level, decreasing both average consumption and emmissions??? Do anyone know if this "alter" any warranty conditions?

Dealer is the only one that can re-program. Make nice and maybe they will do it

Wink sofware upgrad

I have an exact same car here in Taipei and over the past year I have learn that they can change the programing to increase my horse power about 10 to 15%.... So yes it is possible.

Yet, when I ask the service manager what about the warranty... he just smiled and told me as long as you keep comming back to my shop then its not a problem... ha ha....

I was told the dealer CANNOT do this, since the main importer is the only party capable of re-programming the engine power.
And by the way, you will not feel the difference, which makes me even wonder if they actually reduced the HP. Mine was also set back from 235 to 211 (bought mine in germany and belgium has this silly tax rules aswell) and never felt any difference at all. They claim the torque is not changed, maybe this is the reason.

211 to 235 is indeed pointless, there are however possibilities to increase the 211hp to some 280hp and 600Nm of torque... now that's more like it...
but since this is done by non-BMW technicians, I think you're warranty will no longer cover you're engine, transmission etc... but it sure is tempting....
