Took it to the dealer and they are going to refinish the front wheels under warranty. I'll post some more before and after pictures next week.

I don't know. I bought the car at an auction so it wasn't new (12K miles). The front wheels felt a little rough compared to the rear wheels and were not as shiny. They have gotten steadily worse week by week. My pictures don't do them justice as far as the discoloration and rough surface goes. My only guess is that they were not properly finished in the first place. Maybe missed a second coat of paint or primer or something. The rest of the car seems fine and I've put 6K more miles on it since December. It is not my DD, only weekends and trips. I think the dealer is really going out of their way on this one as they had to get approval from BMWNA to do the refinish. I though I read somewhere that wheels were not covered under warranty but I may be wrong on this. Anyway I'm glad they agreed to fix the problem.

newly refinished wheels

The dealer really came through for me on this one. Clear coated all four wheels. I'm not sure the rear wheels needed it but they did it anyway. The fronts look much better now as I hope you can see in the pictures. Wheels were a little wet, as it was raining a few minutes before I took the pictures. Very happy with the way this dealer is treating me (Annapolis BMW).
