She's in getting the brain fixed

Having grown tired of the jerky transmission when coming to a stop or starting rolling, took my X5 in for service. Today received a call from SA and he stated that they will perform a complete software upgrade. I inquired if he meant to say that they will only reflash the transmission but he told me that even the Navi system will be updated. Well, that was a pleasant surprise

On a less pleasant side, they confirmed that I have another wheel bearing failure and they are replacing it. It might even be the same one they replaced a few months ago. And the SAV only has 10K miles on the odometer.

The original tires are also about to go. I thought that they would last until 15K but this also gives me a reason to replace OEM run-lats with my favorite Vredesteins. I have a spare tire, so I don't care about run-flats all that much. SA also recommended a 4-wheel alignment. I'm wondering if it is covered by the maintenance program...

I hope that coming to non-run-flats does not upset suspension settings. Even if it does, I hope the effect is not going to be much noticeable, especially with better grip of the Vred's.

Weasel will become famous soon enough
And the alignment will not be covered by maintenance unfortunately... But as long as you have a spare, dump those runflats. I would do the same.

had an alignment done by the dealer for $150... they gave me a "break" from $179. At least ask for that.

How is BMW of Dallas when it comes to service? I want to voluntarily get a 7500 mile oil change and they quoted me around $120. I'm sure an oil change isn't too bad but do you have experiences on how long it will take?

I've been going there for 8 years now on my e53-- I did a quick oil change in Feb and it was only an hour. I always tell them not to wash it (I hand wash it myself) so that shaves a bunch of time off.

I am quite satisfied with their service. Did not try other dealers but being satisfied I don't see a reason to take chances elsewhere. The previous time I brought my X5 in, I asked to get an X5 for a loaner (to carry the kid around) and they made it happen.

Their facility does not look as modern and shiny as Classic (not even the old Classic when they were in Richardson on 75) but they do good job I cannot complain about.

BMW of Dallas is actually building a brand new, state-of-the-art facility by Love Field on Lemmon Avenue. It's supposed to open this Fall but the city has slowed it with all the permits, etc. It has been going through construction for about a year now.

You're talking about the building across the street from Park Place Mercedes right? I work pretty close to Love Field and I swear that building has said "Future Home of BMW of Dallas" for around 2 years. It sucks that it's taken so long b/c that stretch of Lemmon Ave. has a Lexus, Mercedes, Volvo, Porsche, Volkswagen, Audi, Aston Martin, Honda, and Rolls-Royce/Maserati dealerships. I'm just wondering why the city is hassling BMW of Dallas so much.

Hopefully they'll move in there quick, b/c Forest Lane construction is ridiculous b/c of the DART Light Rail they're building near there.
