Where is the puncture located? As long as its not near or on the shoulders, You should be fine. Pretty sure SEARS isn't gonna wing it and give you substandard work. Get a receipt.. for work performed, you never know.

I repaired one using a cheapo tire plug kit from Autozone. Held air fine until I replaced it -one month-2k miles

Never use the cheap plugs that get installed from the outside of the tire.
The correct repair uses an inside patch that looks like a mushroom. The stem is attached to the patch, and gets pulled through the tire from the outside. All of this applies only if the sidewall isn't cut, if the hole is not too close to the sidewall, and if there is no heat-related damage from having driven on the flat tire.

Agree, but, I the new tires were en route and it wasn't worth dismounting and remounting a junk tire. Got me through a month, and it was a run flat after all, worse it could do is lose air.
By the way my local tire installer charged $220 for R & R and Balance all 4. Purchased Micheleins from Tire Rack and brought them over to him-total bill was about $1400.00 |

don't really see such a big deal with cheapo plug
so far 3 flats 1 on Continental, repaired by tire dealer 2 on winter tire RFT, all repaired by me, out in the country all with ''cheapo"" so far over 10,000kms on winter tire and much more on Continental, while swictching from winter to Continental, dealer said to leave it alone.... always done it this way, no problem

Yup. And if something only kills one out of a hundred times, odds are you could do it a hundred or more times without a problem. But I still don't think I'd do it. |

such a small hole will not create an explosion nor a death treath
then why would the tire dealer(2 diff. dealers) say to leave it..... in any case, with the pressure sensor, you will get plenty of warning.... I think you are allowed your conservatism like in ''better safe then sorry'' but don't be alarmist

I had a puncture and brought it to the dealer; they fixed it by putting one of those cheap looking plugs in. I don't know if this is a special plug, but it was definately put in from the outside.
So I would not worry! |

It was an example to make a point. I obviously was not suggesting one out of every 100 plug repairs results in a death. Well.... maybe not obvious to everyone.
