Exhaust tips do not make any difference to your exhaust sound. Its purely asthetics.
I have the same tips (not stagger though) and the sound is same.

You guys should do the X-Pipe for $90. It sounds great and you don't get the drone that the Magnaflow will surely bring inside the cabin.

Isn't that more applicable for V8 engines?

No. Sure, it will sound better on a V8, but it will also sound good on the I6 engines too. It's just another option to doing an exhaust.

I have a very loud exhaust system from headers back on my M5. My wife absolutely hates it. Anyway, I'm not allowed to touch the X5's exhaust, which is why the X-Pipe might be a decent alternative.
