So are you saying that the people who lease their X5s are sadomasochists ? Or are they've been though it so many times that they don't really think about it until the dealer calls them for the 3rd or 4th time to tell them to get out of their lot

I guess I'm a sadomasochist. I'll be ordering my X6 in about 6 weeks. My 4th BMW lease but 3rd order (I took my current E70 off the lot). This will have the same excitement and anxiety as the first. I will call and harass the SA every chance I get.

fwiw - I've found that Italian pastries and short skirts do wonders for avoiding restraining orders.

I could do the Italian pastries. But if I showed up a the dealer in a short skirt, it would guaranty a restraining order

p.s. The entire staff would need therapy -- maybe for the rest of their life.

And lo one glorious morning, the Angel of the 800# announces that on the very day that the factory had prophesied long ago, your X5's empty shell came down from the stacker and began it's passage along the assembly line, where it will receive an iDrive brain, a twin turbo diesel heart, and the courage to roar it's defiance of mere gas powered conveyances. At the end of the line, it will receive four precious slippers that will finally allow it to touch terra-firma and burn rubber*

Or, just maybe, they would push your vehicle through production a bit faster

Good point. I guess my Dealer/SA could take one look at me in a skirt and decide to take emergency action to reduce further exposure to staff and other customers

Once the Angel of the 800# announces the blessed event, the pace really quickens. In one day, your X5 not only comes to life, it gets handed over to a whole bunch of strangers in:
160 - Sales
181 - Distribution
182 - Carrier/load assignment

And in a mysterious page, with no associated numbers, it is:
Received at VPC and
Released to Carrier, along with Delivery dates & Carrier names. Just in case you were planing on hijacking the transport and bribing/forcing the driver to drive straight to your dealership.

But all of a sudden you realize that you need to find that dog eared X5 Accessories catalog and decide/order the mats you want to buy with your BMW CCA discount. You wouldn't want to get your wife's spanking new carpet dirty on the drive home or you might have to sleep in the garage. But hey, that wouldn't be so bad. Just adjust those (20 way) Comfort Seats and crank up the Premium Sound.

According to my bmwusa order tracking, my X5d jumped from #1 Schedule for Production to #4 At Prep Center today. My SA told me that production on it was actually completed yesterday. Evidently to speed up the delivery process BMW has decided to forgo step #2 Awaiting Transport and #3 En Route. Maybe the military is airlifting it in? I'm assuming that this is wrong. Thanks for getting my hopes up, dumb BMW website.

Your SA can give you all of the info I listed in my previous post - including the name of the carrier, when they are scheduled to pick it up and when they are scheduled to deliver it to your dealer. I have the screen dumps to prove it.

FWIW I think that the Awaiting transport and En route are applicable for trans-Atlantic deliveries (but I may be wrong).
