Methinks it probably requires a little extra maintenance (ie leather conditioner), and if you live in a particularly hot region you may consider against it.

We had an 01 S600 which comes with the leather dash that we traded in for a 07 S600 when it came out... never did anything special to the dash and it looked just as good after 5-6 years as it did on day one. The 07 is holding up perfectly as well. =)

Wow.. It looks great! It makes mine look sooooo cheap. Can you say retrofit? I would love to change out my dash! I need to call and take mine in becasue the upper piece of my glovebox haw come unglued. so when you hit the open button, it catches the dashboard and can't open! So damn cheap!!!! Your dash looks like the Aston Martin that's parked in my condo's garage that I walk by everyday...

You can have the anthracite headliner for I believe $500. I do not get my BMWs with regular headliner as it feels cheap to touch like a fine grit sandpaper.

Isn't anthracite just black headliner? Alcantara is the synthetic suede. I would also love to see that standard or optional on the X5M.
