Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow RFT

I was just pricing out tires at TireRack.com and saw that they are selling Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow RFT!

They are priced in between Dunlop and Bridgestones. And considering that they aren't summer only tires. Maybe they should provide slightly more wear.

Anyone have any experiences with Pirelli tires to share?

Yes, I have those Pirelli's in 19"
they handle perfectly on snow and ice
had them on for one winter only, so I don't have any view on how they wear, but when putting the summer tires back on, the Pirellis looked brand new..

I use pirelli scorpion all seasons on my xc90.
Good grip, long lasting, comfy.

I will put pirellis on my X5 this winter.
Very satisfied.

I had Pirelli Scorpion A/S (all seasons) on my other SUV and it wore pretty easily. Toward the end even the steering was heavy. I'd imagine a cold-weather & RFT tire would be a different beast though. Mine was a good performing tire and would buy again.

They will wear faster in your Southern California climate, as the tread compound is optimized for colder weather. There are a variety of Pirelli Scorpion tires avaialable; the all season are not the same tire as the winter tire.

I like our Pirelli Scorpions on the X3, but they aren't the ice and snow version.

I ran Ice and Snows on my E53 for the winter. I thought it was a great snow tire. Why would you get Ice and Snows if you're in So CA?

I was under the assumption that all weather tires provided better tread life than simply summer tires (harder vs softer tire). Since I don't push my X5 to any limits, I figure an all weather set-up (if it provides more tread life) would benefit me more.

After reading all the feedback, I realized that the Pirelli's I saw are more snow tires than all weather.
