It's too dark tonight but there is a little ball welded to middle of the frame cross member between the rear wheels. And there are four small captured nuts in the middle of the underside of the cargo bay floor panel. Mine has little white pen lines pointing to each of the capture nuts. The gas strut attaches to the ball on the fame and a plate that attaches to the floor board via the captured nuts.

FWIW The manual has picto-drawing of the strut in place.

that low end clatter you hear is quite possibly due to turbo lag. try feeding the throttle a touch before jumping into acceleration.

i occassionally wil stand on the brake and throttle at a red light in my F350. yes, i have issues.

weird how they left off the trunk strut.

Ah that really brings back memories. My first "car" was a Plymouth Suburban station wagon with a flat head 6 and a TWO speed push button automatic transmission (AKA a slush box). Many a time I stood on the gas pedal and punched the Drive (or Low) button. Not that it ever did much good. That tank would simply pull that flat head 6 to its knees and sedately ease off the line without even a chirp from the wheels

FWIW I think the abysmal quality of those old 50's era Chrysler 'automatic' transmissions is why, to this day, we don't have push buttons on the dash. Instead BMW fakes a gear shifter in the E70 that does EXACTLY the same thing but looks so much cooler, and gives you something inanimate to fondle while driving

well you know my friend i have been having a good time playing with the Beer Tap. what i am finding is, beyond the down shift one must actively apply throttle input. the two factors combined makes for a very quick transition in position on the highway.

i won't say i can out drag race a kid in a Mustang, but if i catch him by suprise i own him. five thousand plus pounds will take a moment to get a hustling.

Thanks Funf. Got the set up but not the strut or the plate. Will it all fit with the spare in place?
