Thanks for checking. Actually that is great news. It means that all I need is the strut

Maybe if I had taken my SA Italian pastries wearing a short skirt like cmyX5go suggested, I'd have gotten all the parts installed

Mine is missing the strut too. It was also missing the spare. I had to negotiate the inclusion of the spare tire kit. Let us know what they say at the dealer about the lift assembly.

Do the 35d's not come with runflats?

I have 19" runflats on my 2008 3.0

yes, it comes on runflats but IMHO runflats suck so I opted for the spare tire kit...

Yes they have runflats. But run flats are an urban thing. 100 miles at 50 mph seems like a lot, if you live in the city. But can be the distance to the nearest paved road in the Western US.

Besides I hope to replace the run flats at the first opportunity. I know how, and am more than willing, to change a tire if it is flat/damaged. I don't need stiff riding tires for 20k+ mi., just so I can drive with no air in them - < 100 mi..

I realize that the space saver spare has a lot of the same limitations BUT... after I ditch the run flats, I can get a tire fixed at nearly any gas station. And in a pinch, I can plug the sucker myself.

What are you thinking for replacements? New wheels or just new rubber? I kind of like those staggered 214's on the 4.8 sport...

Got any exterior pics pending?

Just new rubber. I'm serious when I say we regard the X5 35d as a work truck. So I'll stick with the std 18" wheels that give as much sidewall as possible. We drive on unpaved roads every day. Our driveway has several solid limestone ledges which protrude 2-3in out of the crushed limestone road base. We really do take the X5 w/ trailer into the local quarry to load up with the big boys: 18 wheel gravel trucks, cement trucks, and puny 14 yrd dump trucks.

FWIW I really like the look of the staggered 214s too. But they are simply not practical enough for us.

It's not dirty enough yet

Seriously, our only water source (drinking, cooking, bathing, washing clothes, etc.) is the rain we harvest. Our tanks are running a little low because we have been in a record drought for nearly a year. So unless we get several inches of rain* soon, it probably won't get washed for a month or so.

*To put that in perspective 1" of rain on 1,000sqft of roof produces roughly 650gal. And our cabin has 1,100sq ft of roof. So washing the X5 is not the top priority use of water just now.

My 35d was missing the gas shox too. I didn't even realize and my dealer pointed it out on the delivery inspection. It got ordered and fitted prior to me receiving the car.

Its weird they are missing on cars.

The OEM trailer hitch ball is very low -- When we took delivery, the OEM trailer hitch was already installed. When we got it home it was obvious that it was several inches lower than the OEM trailer hitch on our previous E53 2001 X5. So I flipped the ball onto the other side of the receiver tongue. It now comes close to the level of an E53 OEM hitch and makes our 5x9' HD utility trailer ride nearly level. Although we haven't loaded up the trailer with 2 tons of road base yet, the 35d tows our 5x9' HD utility trailer quit nicely Now if I could just improve the view of the trailer by getting those, way too big, rear head rests out of the seat and into the cargo area when towing without passengers.

Apparently BMW put a HAL09 computer in our X5 35d -- We live in the country, with quite a bit of space between buildings (e.g. garage, house, etc). So we frequently off load groceries, etc. at the house and then drive over to garage to park. And shockingly enough we feel fairly safe doing this without fastening our seat belts. But our X5 doesn't. The 'safety' systems have gone way beyond helpful warning chimes and dash symbols. To screenfuls of iDrive nags and occasionally absolute refusal to move until you do what it says Any day now I'm fully expecting to hear "I'm sorry Funf I can't do that" .

Mine is missing it too. Funny thing, I don't see a place for it to attach on the cargo deck. Can someone post an image of this thing and how it mounts?
