First post: Almost ready to pull the trigger on X5 35d

Would welcome any and all opinions on my planned configuration:

2010 X5 35d
Monaco / Tobacco / Bamboo or possibly Monaco / Saddle / Bamboo
Tech package
Premium package
Exec package
Premium sound

So for Canada this config is everything you can get except for the sports package and HUD.

I've only looked at a small swatch of the tobacco leather, and seen some pics on this forum and elsewhere. Hard to know how it will really look, but I love that very few people seem to get it (dealer in Toronto didn't have a single car in stock with tobacco, and they are I think one of the biggest dealers in the country).

The dealer has suggested 2% off MSRP is realistic, although I haven't negotiated at all yet. Going to try and do quite a bit better than that if I can...

My current vehicle is a 2006 E90 330i, so I'm really looking forward to a bigger, more comfortable vehicle. I'm kind of tempted by the great deals to be had on the last 535xi wagons that are coming in, but I do really need the extra ground clearance, so it will almost certainly be the X5 I go for.

We were pretty set on getting tobacco leather on our 35d until we saw the all brown trunk and the rear seats. To us, it was too much brown...kind of like somebody smeared poo-poo all over the trunk. We chose Saddle Brown instead, which is a lighter brown broken up with black carpet and black plastic trim.

I was also on the "Tobacco road" until I saw it in person. WAY too much brown. brown every there... and in contrast to the Beige's black dash, the Dash is also BROWN... you best see it in person..

I went with Saddle.. Brown seats and leather trim.. BLACK dash and Carpet.

Thanks guys. I really like saddle, but my wife is a bit concerned it will show marks much more than tobacco. Has that been a problem for you? Keep in mind we have a two-year-old...

The saddle will show dirt, which I've had to Fantastik a couple times, and this is just normal use of the seats (front seats). I have 1 year olds so yours probably is more hands-on than mine right now so... you're in trouble... but I really disliked the tobacco so that wasn't even a consideration. Saddle/black combination is absolutely beautiful throughout.

My wife was concerned about the interior as well - so we ordered black.

Regarding the price, you should be able to get 5-6 points off - I've ordered a similar configuration as you (everything the same minus the Premium Sound PKG)

Good Luck!

Thanks, definitely something to think about. Out of curiosity, which dealer did you order yours from?

Tobacco/Black like in the X3 would make it much more popular IMO. Like my terra and my Truffle, just looks too... shitty with all that brown.

Still undecided, and despite the reservations expressed here about the tobacco, I may still go with it. However, if I do, I'll pick one of the other wood trims, for more contrast.

Also thinking I'll ditch premium sound and go with HUD...

Do you use polarized sunglasses? Don't expect to be able to see this in the daytime (that's what I read ).
