Automatic trunk stopped working?

My trunk only pops unlocked when I click the button on the dash or the key fob. Also when fully opened and I hit the close button, nothing happens.

Any ideas?

The following may or may not help...

The rear hatch is very sensitive to anything it considers a hazard to auto opening. Make sure the lower hatch is fully closed and has nothing pressing up against it. Even the pressure of a rubber mat can keep the rear hatch from auto opening/closing.

There is nothing in the trunk, I tried opening/closing the lower hatch. I also tried this a few different times, hours apart and after driving the car.

Sounds like a trip to the dealer. I've never had that happen...

I'm on a long road trip and have been opening and closing the tailgate multiple times per day. There can be items pressed against the tailgate but you must be sure it is FIRMLY closed before the top hatch will trigger. 2 or 3 times it wouldn't go but if I simply opened and firmly "reclosed" it worked fine.

I tried that and nothing seems to work, guess I will be calling the dealer.

Not very happy on a one month old car with under 1,000 miles.

Is the close button (on the underside of the rear hatch) illuminated? When you use the key fob or the button on the dash does it just release the lock or does the upper portion open fully?

If the motor is working to open it, it may need to be reset to close it...if the motor is not working at all then it could be a fuse or the motor itself....

Just to be sure, US vehicles do not have a close feature from anywhere but the tailgate button itself....key fob and dash button will NOT close it as a "safety" feature.

It is still illuminated. The keyfob/dash button just release the lock, I have to manually open the gate. The illuminated close button does nothing when pressed.

Sounds like something with the motor, and a trip to the dealer....

It sucks to have to take it in so soon, but at my DELIVERY the sunroof broke and the car got scratched while they "fixed" it...it broke again when i got home, now a year later i took it in for it's first service and they replaced the whole cassette.
