While the US web site could use some improvements, and I appreciate the larger pictures on the CA site, I generally thought that the CA site was poor. Requiring the buggy and slow Java just to configure a car is a poor web design choice. And the split screen view requiring you to scroll in a smaller box to the see the options is also difficult to navigate.

Any idea when the X5 section of the BMW USA site will update to 2010? Seems like now that Production has begun on '10s, there isn't a need to configure '09s. I know the pricing/packages are out there, but it would be nice if the site was up to date!

For some reason, BMW NA is always late with updating their website, I guess it's become sort of a tradition with them. I don't know if it's a lack of resources, incompetent web designers, or Teutonic Bureaucracy, but the USA website is always out of date, e.g., for the past few days if you click on the "Owners manuals" link when you are logged into MY BMW, you get a "page under maintenance" message. IF you click on the Bluetooth link, you go into a void with no page and no message. (you can reach these places via other links from other parts of their site).

I would only pay attention to the IRS information on tax credits Qualified Advanced Lean-Burn Technology Vehicles

I am hoping that the 2010 list is still to be updated based on reported sales.

There are no 2010 BMW vehicles.

Right, no BMW 2010 vehicles listed, that is why I am hoping it is still to be updated. There is no way BMW have exceeded the 60000 vehicle limit....

Well, now that it's up, it should at least convince the last few who still thought the 2010 model might have a facelift... so that discussion should be closed forever.

[QUOTE=dingo;671694There is no way BMW have exceeded the 60000 vehicle limit....[/QUOTE]

Three possibilities I can think of...

(1) BMW has their website data wrong (wouldn't be the first time and certainly not the last...)

(2) The MPG rating of the X5 Diesel has dropped from 2009 MY for some reason, or

(3) Something has changed in the rules between 2009 and 2010 which impacted the calculation.

There may be an interesting story behind this if the MPG rating has fallen.

Since the tax credit shown for the X5d is now same as the tax credit shown for the 3 series, my money is on a simple web content mistake on the part of BMW's less than perfect web designers/updaters... seems to be quite a coincidence.

Oh, and I did find a summary of how the credit is calculated. See section 6.1 of this link:

Alliance to Save Energy | News | Energy-Efficiency Home and Vehicle Tax Credits

And this:

ACEEE - Vehicle Tax Credits in the Energy Bill

FWIW, on the first link, I don't see how one gets to a total of $1,800 tax credit.

Wink

Perhaps they reversed an extra mpg tradeoff for that start in 2nd gear lag many have noted.
