Two comments:
(1) For some reason, BMW auto transmissions have a teribly sloppy torque converter type lag... my Ford Focus transmission is loads better than any recent BMW I've driven. (2) If you look at the diesel engine torque curve, it is great and flat from about 1800 -3000 RPM, but compared to the gasoline engines, the diesel torque is actually significantly worse starting-out from 1,000 RPM, although it does quickly ramp-up to exceed the gasoline engines. |
