Extended Maintenance Prices

I'm taking delivery of my Xdrive35d in a few weeks and interested in purchasing the extended maintenance since we're going to keep it in the family for the life of it. Does anyone have any leads on who is offering the best prices? So far BMW of Annapolis is $300 off any maintenance upgrade in October which makes the cost for the diesel 2195. Anyone else have better prices?

Since the maintenance is free for the first four years, 50,000 miles, why buy the extended plan now? If, God Forbid, the vehicle was somehow totaled before the 4 years/50K were up, would they refund your money or make the plan transferable to another vehicle?

I think extended warranties just go up in price. So sometimes it's worth buying it earlier.

When I had my 3 series, I didn't buy the extended warranty and a plastic piece cracked on the radiator and the whole thing had to be replaced. That ran about $1000+ back then. Then unknowningly my power steering fluid leaked out and my power steering got messed up. A lot of money there too.

Needless to say that when my wife bought her 3 series (next model), we bought the extended warranty for her. We used it a few times. But not enough to justify the cost (nothing major like what happened with my car). Though like all warranties find out what it covers as there were quite a few things that weren't covered under my wife's extended warranty.

For my current X5. I didn't buy it. Though I'm still debating. Overall the warranty is much more expensive than the 3 series albeit the cost of fixing an X5 would be much higher too.

Don't know about BMW extended warranties, but for Mercedes, we bought one for a E class. When we got rid of the car, we requested a refund (rather than a transfer to the new owner) and they gave us all our money back.

BMW pro rates the warranty. You don't get all of your money back. The price of the warranty is the same if you wait is what the dealer told me. Prices may go up on the plans, but BMW doesn't charge more because you didn't purchase it when it was new. Lexus charges more, but my understanding BMW does not. I'm not going to purchase the warranty early.

Yes BMW's maintenance and original owner warranty extensions are both refundable in the event of a loss (accidental or theft) otherwise transfer with the vehicle.

The prices historically have gone up over time on both the warranties and the maintenance. The prices now are much more than when I purchased the last one a few years ago. To be clear though, I was asking about Maintenance, NOT the extended warranty (or in this case the BMW Original Owner Protection as they call the extended warranty for original owners). That is much more costly and I'll buy it in a few years when I hit the 50k mark probably around month 36 or so.

On which car? The prices vary from different model/engine choices
