Did the X5 have a hybrid system starting in 04/08? I ask b/c I am reading the 2010 X5s will still use the current low res screen w/the new CIC controller and Nav software? BTW, thanks for previously summarizing for everyone. You could have saved me a couple hours of my life. |

Similar question about the HD-based units too. Could the new CIC module work with the existing wiring harness (pre-2010), but use the new monitor, new iDrive controller, etc.? If it did require the HD to operate, I wonder where you'd even put that in a pre-2010 E70.

That may be but it sure sounds like a HD. I though it was reading the USB stick and copying files to the HD. Also the sound is closer to the display.
I based the above on the following from the owners manual, p189. After connecting for the first time, the information...USB device are transferred to the vehicle...The information of up to four USB devices or for a total of approx. 20,000 tracks can be stored in the vehicle I'd have to take out the Nav DVD and see if I hear it. Your probably right. |

I was afraid of that. So I guess the "downloading to hd" was people (eg E92) that have the new CIC systems.
Bummer. Thanks.! |

Im confused about the whole CIC and CCC thing.
Anyone know where we could get part numbers for the 2010 X5 for the screen, I-Drive controller, and the trims and any other pieces required? If all the parts are available and come to under 2k, I don't mind buying them and leaving it up to my dealer to see what they could do.

Since you have a 2010 X5M you can disassemble your dash and console and tell use the numbers on the back of the pieces

As easy as it may be, I am not going to disassemble anything in the X5M

You can answer a few questions though.
1) You have the new CIC controller, correct? 2) The console trim house the CIC controller swapped the business card slot and controller, correct? 3) Do you have the new iDrive software? 4) Do you have the newer high resolution screen? Or is it the same as the one in your 09 X5? 5) Can you download music using the USB port into your, disconnect the USB stick and still play the music? Thanks! |
