Nav question: building routes A-> B -> C

I'm quite familiar with Garman (GSPMap 176C, 276C) and Lowrance HiWay 500C GPS units, where you can build a route that takes one from point A to B to C to D etc.

Am I missing something in my 2008 X5 Nav system that seem like routing to point "B" is the limit?

Thanks,
Dick

nope, the X5 nav system doesn't allow you to enter a route from A - B - C yourself, just A - B with some options such as Fast Route, Short Route, Exclude Toll Routes etc...

Get a 2010 with the new iDrive and nav - it allows multiple destinations .

The BMW navigation system is not as good as Garmin. Maybe BMW will fix this in future years.
The way that I get around this issue is when I have multiple destinations, I send the addresses from google map to the car in the order that I will be going to the destination. As I complete one leg, I role to My Info and load the next destination. If I need to add another that I have not sent to the car via google maps, I just call the concierge at BMW assist and have them send it to the car. Works well also.

Well my ignorance will certainy "light the room" as I ask, "How does one send info to the car?"

What must the car, have or does have, to receive info from a home/office computer.

I'll wait till ya' all quit laughing and take my answer here in public.

Thanks

Try this:

Sending Google maps to your BMW navigation system

Nice link, Penguin.

One key item you need to do if you have not done it already activate your account with BMW assist. This can be done by pressing the SOS button and speaking directly to them or via phone. This is important as you need your BMW Assist account name (your email address that you give them) to input into the the screen (if you click on the google map in the link that Penguin sent, it will blow up large enough for you to see were you need to put it). Then you click send and it will be in the MY info section of BMW Assist before you get to the car.
The concierge service is extra. It comes with the Convience Plan and I think it was $180 a year. My wife loves it because she can never find any place she searches for in the navigation system. BMW assist will look it up for you and send it to your navigation while you drive. They also will check whatever you ask them ( flight arrivals, departures, weather, road conditions ). It is good for some and not others.
