V1 here.
The GPS systems are good if you live where there are fixed radar speed untis (NOT in California)... OR if you run red lights a lot (in which case you deserve a ticket, IMHO.) The old K40 'stealth' install was horrendous- a miserable system with poor performance. Here is the biggest issue with radar detectors: NOBODY gets more than one, hence nobody has valid comparisons. Any comparison of these new passport stealth systems to the old K40 system is useless as anything is better than the old K40. IMHO of course. AFAIK, there is no modern head to head evaluation of the newer passport concealed/integrated units to other state of the art detectors. My V1 has saved my CONSTANTLY over the last few years. Last was 2 nights ago, CHP setting up at the end of a long rural straight...either he was using instant on, or I just came up on him as he turned it on, but I got a late alert and was still able to bring it down to 55 when I got to him. A PS Instant on is where the officer turns on the radar and tries to get a read on you with the initial use of the radar. Arguably they are not supposed to as it takes some time to get stable readings... and here in CA, CHP can get plenty of tickets running around with the radar on all the time... they don't really need to abmush drivers to fill their quotas. |

I see most cops using laser in NYC & Long Island, so V1 will not really help much.
Do you know what the cops in NJ & Maryland use on 95? Also do know if the cops in CT, MASS & VT use laser or radar? I drive to Maryland once a month and see lots of cops writing tickets in NJ & Maryland. Last week at night a Maryland Cop was sitting in the middle median and his lights went on when I passed at 74, he pulled over the guy behind me. It really made me think it was time for a detector but not sure if it will provide much help?

MD on I-95 and most other highways mostly on Laser. It won't save you; most times when I drive on I-95 in MD the V1 is useless because I either see the police with a laser gun, or I don't.
I-270 between exits 6 and 10 they might run radar, they may not. I-70 west of Frederick they use either, but I've always seen laser. |

Mass is a crapshoot, I've been hit with both doing +30 and nothing has happened VT is radar, CT is also a crapshoot, but I've never had a problem.
