I have the 2008 X5 with the 3.0 engine. Can you tell which engines are affected?
And what does it mean by they don't do 'bleeding' anymore?? Thanks. Edit: I keep the car in underground parking lot, so I'm not sure if the issue applies... Last edited by autoque; 11-17-2009 at 08:17 AM.

In the service bulletin there is information on which engines are affected, which you can tell by the casting stamp on the cylinder head. Either way it goes you have nothing to worry about unless you hear the ticking.
And all the bleeding procedure is was basically holding the engine at about 3500rpm for up to 15 minutes to get the hva's full of fresh oil and push out any air. It made the engie qiet the same way a quick highway drive did and was only temporary as it didn't fix the cause of the problem. I think it was to buy time until updated parts were available.

As far as where to look it up/read it, I'm not sure. I just use the BMW website which I can't log into at home since I'm not using explorer on windows.
