I believe carbon black is just like jet black. Black sapphire is black metallic which has sparkley metal flakes.

Wrong. Carbon Black Metallic is like a deep, dark blue metallic paint. Originally on the E39 M5 and E46 M3...also available on the E53 X5 later...

Carbon Black looks black at certain times and deep blue at other times. Depends on time of day, angle of light, how clean it is, etc... I like it because it's fairly unique.

Carbon black is better than black sapphire and very much tied to ///M cars. |

Basically, it is metallic dark blue mixed with black and I`m sold. its great to look at (when clean), and it does like weekly shampoos! Black sapphire is too shiny for me.
Cheers,

Honestly, Carbon Black is so freaking awesome that you need to see it in person and in different light to fully appreciate it. A guy was selling a Carbon Black E53 X5 on ebay a while back and it was just amazing. I think it's one of the top 3 colors BMW has ever produced.
