Not quite sure what you are trying to say...

Just to make it clear in an X5/X6 you can have up to 2 USB ports. One can be in the glove box which is only available when you add the tech package or the NAV option, and is used to transfer music from a Flash Drive to the iDrive Hard Drive. The second which is in the center console is the USB for controlling an iPod/iPhone/MP3 Player and is available as a standalone option in the X5 30i and 35d, and also in the Premium Sound Package in the 48i.

It sounded like unless you have the technology or navigation, there will not be any USB port

well, in the BMWUSA website, you can order an 35D w/o any packages checked but still have USB/Ipod connection as an option. So, it has nothing to do with the NAV or tech packages... It seems its an Idrive... Hard drive function. Thats is what I was trying to say

I think if you order the iPod option, you get a USB port in the center console to hook up the iPod cable. But I guess it would only play the iPod unless you have NAV?

Thanks for the explanations. This makes all clear. On a separate note, every CD I played came up as unknown artist. Anyone know the reason why? Do I need some sort of package again to actually see the name of the artist as stated on the user manual?

I believe I was reading about this issue on bimmerfest for the F01/F02 and I think it required a software update.

That's interesting but I will be very surprise if software update is already necessary since my car is less than 3 weeks old and it's 2010 model. Any chance you have the link to the article, I searched on Bimmerfest but didn't find anything. Thanks.
