Tire replacement issue
I'm running a set of Vredestein Sessantas on 214 wheels. Last night I caught a nail close to the sidewall of one of the front tires. My local tire shop says they cannot repair it because it is too close to the sidewall. My only option is to get a new Vred tire. But the problem is that nobody in DFW area carries this brand of tires. This, in turn, means that I will have to order them from out-of-state. This may take 5-10 days. During this period of time I really need to use my X5 to haul my family and the in-laws who are visiting us.
So, I'm looking at two options, I guess:
1. Use the temporary spare until my new arrives, but this is not good especially on highways
2. Buy a cheap (not sure if it exists) tire from a local store and run it until my new Vred comes in. I'm not a big fan of that due to the waste of $200 or so for the tire I'm going to run for a few days. Besides, different thread on the front tires may not the best idea either.
Are there any other solutions that I cannot think of?
By looking at the attached picture, can you tell if it is truly unrepairable? Maybe some other tire shop could patch it up?
Thanks!
