WOW....I own a company that sells large yachts and am shopped every day and fight for every sale, sometimes spending thousands of dollars and then loosing the deal to someone else. If one of my people wrote that, they'd be gone. It is the cost of doing business in today's marketplace, risk and reward.

As an employer I'd ask this guy what has he done (other than spend a few hours with you) to earn the sale...he does not own you as a customer, and I would NEVER go back..

While not an alarmist, this last response would have me speaking with the prinicpal in the dealership (or GM since it's Auto Nation) for your sake and his...plus that response is just outright BULLSH!!!!T. If you can afford a $65k car you do not need an economics lesson from the guy trying to sell them. Clearly he has taken this too far, fine to have a midnight breakdown due to lack of sleep etc, but this....WOW

Ok at this point, I'd guess his story is just subterfuge. The diesels have been selling real well and some dealership won't move too much on price. He probably figures he can get you for MSRP. Or been told to do so.

And I'd figure that if he thinks he can get MSRP so does his Sales Manager.

Get a few internet quotes from some other dealerships. Sometimes this can be fast and you can quickly see how soft the price is in your market. And then you can reassess the situation.

BTW, I just came back from the factory tour and they said the diesels are selling extremely well.

Latest info I hear was that Diesels now account for 25% of all U.S. X5 sales.

Perhaps BMW has now learned something about price elasticity.

P.S. With the $4,500 eco credit and the $1,800 tax credit, the diesel is $2,600 cheaper than the 3.0 gasoline engine. I'm surprised they are selling any 3.0 gasoline versions at the moment... cheaper, better mileage, and performance closer to the V-8 than to the six.

Ok, based on that last email from him I would tell him to go eff himself, and give him a copy of Hooked on Phonics as a parting gift.

Wow, this guy is totally nutts. I would not even bother replying back and maybe just update your SA with his new note. Looks like this sales rep might have been put on a plan by the management and he couldn't handle the stress along with a new baby. Maybe your SA might get you in touch with another salesperson but I would suggest getting the car from some other dealership. As someone noted, there is no dearth of dealerships in the bay area. You should check out BMW of Fremont which is another Autonation dealership. Ask for Calvin, he can probably give you a good deal just on the phone.

Yeah...Im not going to respond. Kind of tired of the whole situation. Just going to ignore it and move on. I have other things to think about like what I'm going to do with my E70 as for mods and accesories. I cant wait to join the E70 Diesel club.
