Wait, if the car is still is in production 112 status, why can't you add ZAP and 20" rims? That makes no sense, the dealer can connect to an up to date network. He would be able to tell you right away about that and change the order instantaneously.

Its not in production the "order has been received" according to the site and there is no completion date there as well. CA is telling me that "the system wont take the order for 20's" he said there were supply issues in march that may have resurfaced.

I drove an X6 50i. I first drove a 2010 X5 4.8i, and then the X6 50i, back to back to compare. X6 is basically the same from the front seat forward. Same motor and hp, and about the same weight. Loved the power of the 4.8. But the 4.4 twin turbo is tremendously stronger. It is a true low 5 second 0-60, maybe faster! It is pretty darm close to an X5M. Night and day over the 2010 4.8i, of which I had an order, cancelled, and ordered the 2011. I ordered a 50i in sparkling bronze with cinammon brown leather interior, 20" 336 rims, with most options. Mine is completed and being shipped now. I am in LA, and told I will recieve it in 2-3 weeks. That is if there is no delay in the shipping process. I will snap pictures as soon as I get it.

I wouldnt go for diesel b/c I dont drive enough to care about its MPG, I dont care for the distinct sound it makes, it doesnt appeal to me for 2011 being that is seems outdated compared to the 40d and I lease my suvs and the diesel program is very bad.

Side note, I have a 7 and 4 year old... a car seat and booster seat in the 911 is all you need. They actually prefer the 911 over the x5 but they only get to ride in it rarely (nothing farther then a few minutes away - ice cream, beach, park etc) so maybe that's the reason.
May I ask what you are paying, and what options you have? I'm very curious to see how they are pricing them, and what I can expect come next year when my lease comes up. You can PM me if you don't want to reveal this info to the forum.

the lease payment might double or half it self in a matter of months, let alone a whole year.

BMW Could halt U.S. X5 and X6 Production Due to Ash Cloud

Quote:
A volcano in Iceland has caused a world of hurt for European airliners and travelers alike, as thick ash in the atmosphere has caused the cancellation of an estimated 63,000 flights. A new report from BusinessWeek suggests that even the auto industry could be affected by the hazardous ash if airlines continue to stay grounded. BMW spokesman Mathias Schmidt has told BW that the German automaker may need to shut down its Spartanburg, South Carolina, which produces the X5 and X6 crossovers if planes remain on the ground more than two additional days.

So, how does the April 14 eruption of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano control the fate of manufacturing in South Carolina? BMW ships transmissions and other components from Germany to its sole U.S. plant via air. If BMW can't get parts to Spartanburg soon, the plant will be temporarily shut down. A bit of good news has come in the past 24 hours, though, as scientists say the volcano currently isn't shooting any ash into the atmosphere, though seismic activity in the area of the eruption is still said to be very high.

That's nothing wait till the Mt. Eyjafjallajöasdfasfasdgdhyetehsdfgmcvndsryerert354 tu457edfbxfnfvghfxdfkull volcano blows. That's like 50 times bigger and the ash cloud would surely disrupt Toyota production.

I knew it. Those guys. And apparently the chief suspension test driver for the Lexus SUV driver claims the consumer reports track was covered in a fine layer of ash, thus the poor handling.
