I've done it
First of all, I live in Korea, so it just might be a different situation here. I read howellm70's post from here, and thought about giving up installing heated steering wheel. But by then I had already bought heated steering wheel from ebay so I just had to find a way to install it. I finally found a guy who works on BMW electronics like alarm, and remote keys. I paid him $300, and according to him, he made a single module for heating control, and it just works find on my car. And it just work fine on my car. Well, one downside is that I gave up voice command button on steering wheel to use it as turn off button. Heating control button only turns on the heat.
I think if there is a technician who knows about electronics and module work, it will be a easy job. |

I am asking since I had a defective heated steering wheel which got replaced. But now I noticed that the steering wheel is slightly turned left. The X5 tracks perfectly straight, however.

There's a notch on the circular slide-type deal where you push in the wheel. It can only go on one way. You can't install it so that it's off by a degree or two. |

Removing Heated Sport Wheel
I'm swapping out my heated Sport wheel for a non-heated M wheel.
I can include the mystery module, if we can identify what it is, if someone is interested in buying all of the items... You will probably have to add the option, via coding, to your X5 before it will work...
