What are people paying for a 2011 35d?

I'm thinking about getting a 35d (yeah. another X5 in the family).

Just curious what people are able to negotiate now for them?

When I got my 4.8, a lot of dealerships were giving $500 above invoice (then minus premium credit). So under invoice overall.

A few months ago, I stopped by a dealership that said 35d were selling for MSRP only.

What is the market like now?

You can still get 500 to $1000 over invoice on 2011 models. I have been offered.

Really?

You actually think that a dealer will be honest about this???

They are pathological liars, ESPECIALLY about how well sales are going and what cars are selling for...

In generally it seems that 500-1500 over 'cost' is where they are... depends on how hard you look, if you are picky about which dealer sells you your copy, time of the month, who is the manager when your deal crosses the desk.

Thanks for the input.

Ard, you make a good point. I'm usually not that trusting of what the sales have to say. But the guy that told me about the 35d was the same guy that offered me $500 over invoice on the 4.8i (I didn't buy from him for other reasons. And the guy I did buy the car from is no longer with that dealership). He said that due to the demand, all their slots for priority 1 have been filled and that the dealership is trying to make as much $$$ as possible. I figure this might be possible. With the credit and the excellent gas mileage, demand could be that high.

Good to know that the pricing is still relatively the same out there. Good starting point for my new purchase endeavour.

You'll find that sales MANAGERS and upper level staff will often lie to the CAs, or direct the CAs to certain targets. Some CAs really believe what they are told, others have a better understanding.

In CA the pricing is much stiffer: these cars are limited by production, and dealers DO try and squeeze the most out of a desirable model. Personally my local dealers were being dicks on my 2010 and I wound up driving to get a deal. And I'm in central norcal! Bay area and SoCal are probably worse. To many buyers based on "what is the monthly payment"...
