Problem Occasionally Going Into Reverse
Sometimes the joystick refuses to go into reverse. The joystick just stiffens up. The last time it happened it took me like a minute to get it into reverse. I have no problems going into park, neutral or drive. I have an appointment with the dealer next week, but I was just trying to get a heads up on the issue. Thanks |

My car sometimes goes to neutral when I try to reverse, its subtle but it happens, I just push it to reverse one more time....then it works...

Different issue than mine. My shifter sometimes just won't go into reverse. The shifter physically gets stiff and won't click up to reverse. When it happens it will shift into neutral or drive with no problem. It isn't a tranmission problem, but I think the issue is in the shifter itself.

Never happened to me. Time for a trip to the dealer for you.

When last my vehicle was in for the rear shock replacement the service adviser asked me if I was having trouble with gear selections. I mentioned that once or twice I had the same problem you mentioned. SA said there were multiple errors associated with the system and a reprogram/update was required. They did the update but I still have the occasional will not move to reverse, have not experienced fault for forward selection.
