They look nice, but why would you make tail lights so dark? I'd think that would take away some of the lamps visibility and cause some tool that was too busy talking/texting on their cell from stopping in time and cause an accident.

I think that the tail lights look Very Nice with light tint on them, but those are too dark for my taste. I do agree that they look sharp on the AW!

BTW, X5X - link would not work for me.
That is just the tint film over the stock lights.

Thanks Freddy and mr. I am still chewing on the idea. I am very concerned about my reverse lights and losing light throw from them. No street lights where I live and it gets pretty dark so I really depend on them. I do like the daytime look of the darker but have been considering the very ideas you both mention.

I am leaning towards the "gunsmoke" color of the lamin-x. If I go this route, lighter in color than I'd like, I could probably get away without cutting out the reverse lights strips. If I go darker, I'd want to cut out the strips and wonder if the contrast of the dark with the cut-out might be too stark. I'm a bit torn because I really think the red lenses are too bright against the AW but then again I only see them when I walk behind the vehicle! Haven't yet looked into 3M's; perhaps this might allow a middle dark over the red and a lighter smoke over the reverse. But, this is likely to double or triple the cost.

As of now, if I go lamin-x, I am considering the lighter gunsmoke color for the tails (scroll the page a bit to see the colors on a lens) BMW X5 (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010) Tail Light Covers and the light "tint" color for the eyes BMW X5 (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010) Headlight Covers

Wrestling with decision cause I had told myself I'm done; even tho my mods are comparatively modest, I am still putting lots of $s into a leased vehicle.

I would like them better if they incorporated the current glowing LEDS in the middle, with LED's for the turn signal, brake lights, etc.

BMW first came out with CELIS light (glowing rods) on E39 in 2001. Earliest Lexus with similar lighting is 2007 LS460. Moreover, famous BMW angel lights (first came out in 2001 as well) suggested other companies to develop their own version of distinctive lighting (see Audi LED lights). So you can say that BMW started the lighting revolution of modern cars introducing first HID system, then CELIS taillights and angel lights.

by the way, who came out with the look 1st? BMW or Lexus? the LS is using fat glowing LED rods in the rear lamps too.
