Delays, im in the uk i did have a original production for week 18, and now have been told this may be put back by 8 weeks to week 26, just wanna scream.

My sales rep and told me that he will get more info and come back to me, but he could not understand why this has happened.

Do you guys have any more info on delays?

aside from this recent update regarding the seats campaign, bmw also started slowing down production starting with week 17. My dealer had 2 week 17 builds, mine and another purchase. Mine is currently in production while the other one went back to 111 status and delayed for 3-4 weeks.

However, because of the first delay, which was so long, 10 weeks before the 2010 went into production, not including production time, and shipping time, and now this delay, I am just frustrated. I am really frustrated because I turned in my leased Audi Q7 6 weeks ago. I expected to have the X5 before my lease on my Audi was up. It is very difficult for my family to not have a vehicle with 3 rows of seats.

The reason I cancelled the 2010 is because my CA called me and offered for me to get a 2011 instead. He said I would recieve it only about 4 weeks later than the 2010. I went on BMWs international website and researched the changes, and then went and drove a 2010 4.8i, and drove a 2010 X6 50i back to back to compare. I liked the 50i much better, liked the updated front and rear bumpers (less black plastic) and liked the 336 20" rims being different than the 214 rims that have been on the road for 4 years, so I decided on the 2011. That is the reason I am in such a hurry, and complaining. I think that you would feel the same way. My other cars are only 4 seaters, a 2009 mini cooper John cooper works convertible, and a 2010 shelby GT500 mustang that I only drive in nice weather, and for cruising. So, my wife and I are in a bind.
Don't get me wrong. I totally understand where you're coming from. The wait can kill you. I've special ordered cars in the past. The wait can seem like an eternity. Most recently, I ordered a 2010 X5 last fall. It took about 3 months. I got really impatient too.

In your scenario, it sucks that you have to contend with an expiring lease. But really, who's fault is that? If time was of the essence, you should not have special ordered a car....especially one that is a new production year/model which can often run into delays. Next time around, either buy a car that's already on the lot or special order a car well in advance with the anticipation that some delays may occur.

Worst case scenario, borrow a friend's/family member's car or rent a minivan at their monthly rate. You're buying a $60k car, I'm sure you can afford it.

Is this week 17? Mine was supposed to start production the 3rd week of May (week 22 I think), then it was moved up a week. It was for a 35d re-order placed on 4/16. When I asked my CA about that service bulletin yesterday, he told me that mine is in production now. Wha??

I was suspicious, so I called the 1-800#. The automated system said that there was no production date scheduled. Suspiciouser. I talked to someone in person and the dude said that its actually in production.

How in the heck did that happen given what everyone is reporting is going on with their productions here?

But it really doesn't matter that its being built now because they're not going to give me the car anyway.

z2g, I ordered my car almost 3 mos before my lease was up. I figured that was plenty of time. Its a fine line when it comes to that. If the BMW would have come in in 5 weeks, then I would have an overlap of 6 weeks and had both car payments, in addition to my other 2 cars. Like I said, we could not locate one with the 3rd row seat, so that was out. And I have borrowed my father in laws car in the meantime. Very nice of him. As far as renting, the best price I got was 800.00 per month for a toyota corolla. No thanks. And, I am sorry, I would not be caught not breathing in a minivan! As far as affording things, my X5 MSRP is 72K not 60K. But affordability is not issue. Maybe you are right, I am crying too much about this. Just need/want the damn car that is all. Take it easy.

Just heard from my dealer, my wife's x5 35i was released to Fleet Car Carriers today (4/29/10).

It will ship on 5/1/10 and has an estimated arrival of 5/3/10 at the dealer.

We have a week 17 build and located in Northern Virginia.

Cant wait for next week (knock on wood)!

I have a general question---what do y'all do for a car when production is delayed ? I know on a lease the dealer says keep your car until new one comes in. And if you are trading in they say the same thing. Anyone order their car, sell their current car on like Autotrader after that and try to time it that the new one comes in and you aren't carless ?
