RECARO YOUNG SPORT SEATS...THREE ACROSS IN THE SECOND ROW...

I mentioned in another thread:

http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...ht=2011+diesel

...That I would post pictures. Here they are...These are three Recaro Young Sport seats in the back of my 2011 Diesel...NOT for those lacking patience or those who are in a hurry.

Started with the middle seat and secured it using the rear anchor points and the X5 seat-belts; I then moved on to the outer seats.

Sounds simple, right?

Many explicatives were mumbled in the course of figuring out 'how' to do it. I wanted to use the latch system, but it is impossible. The X5's latch anchors are recessed into the seats; the Young Start is a sizeably-large seat and its latch anchor harness isn't quite long enough...And if it were, the latch anchors would be under/between the rear section where the seat sits and probably not the best way to secure the car seat.

Note: You cannot fit a sheet of paper between the seats.
Note: The doors close fine without hitting the (otherwise) wide seats.
Note: Plan on not removing them or accessing the 3rd row seat if you have them...Putting them in and out is not fun and takes time so as to do it right.

The 'project' really is keeping that area of the car clean...And, these seats are so large that the kids' feet are much closer to the driver & passenger side seats...Subsequently, you get scuffs & kick-marks on the seatback...

so, are your kids lovin the Invisions? got some more pictures of them installed?

my wife already gave me the go signal to "look" for the rear entertainment to keep the kids busy during long drives... Invision is on top of my option lists right now....

oh btw, when your oldest is ready for the booster seat, you should definitely look for an Olli Clek, my 7 year old loves his...

This is great. I have 4 kids and 3 of them are 2,5,& 6. And they love driving in the X. But the car seats I have are too wide. They fit but are tight. Those recaros are very nice.

My kids favorite says is " Faster Dad Faster!!!"

As a new dad of a 10 month old, and taking a look at your set up in the back of your car with all 3 seats, one thought constantly goes through my mind on our own childhood...

how did we ever survive growing up without all of this stuff... lol

quite a racket the children industry has going!

Great job on those seats!
