2011 luggage compartment roller shade

Over on Bimmerfest, someone commented that the 2011 x5 they received, did not have a luggage compartment roller shade, and was not an option either.

As I am getting ready to order a new one, can anyone who has recently received there new 2011 comment on that? Seems really odd.

I have one. Had to remove it to use the 3rd row seats. :-)

Thanks......again over on bimmerfest, looks like they are saying new builds (I dont know which build week), are being shipped without the covers, and will be optional........

Hope that is not true. One guy was told they would be a $600 addition

Lee, I had third row seat.. and was thinking of adding this option. Why do you need to remove it to use 3rd row seat? I don't quite understand why the shade would be associate with 3rd row seating?

My SA mentioned the same, waiting for confirmation if it will affect my July-scheduled build.

I've looked at the realoem.com parts - it is a $453 option! Ouch

The shade mounts behind the 2nd row seat. You can't use the third row seat with the shade in the way.

BTW, its also a hassle to remove/install the shade unit.

If BMW continues to make standard items optional - my next purchase of an X5 will be optional!

I hope this damn cover comes with mine, because I really hate haggling with the dealer over this kind of thing.

I find it really hard to believe they would just eliminate a standard option like that out of the blue.

I would be ticked out of principle if it wasnt included, but I can honestly say that I have never used mine. It just sits there and looks nice. Whenever I pack anything worth covering up, it always ends up being taller than the cover so......
