Sounds like some bad dealer experiences in Georgia.
BMW doesn't use goop on the back of the pads at the factory, and it shouldn't be necessary now. IMO, it is often used as a bandaid fix, reduces pedal feel, can be a temporary fix, and is often resorted to when owners or mechanics don't pay attention to the rotor surface finish. BMW does use high temperature grease on the ears of the pads where they touch the calipers, and mechanics should do so as well. The original poster didn't do the brake job, and so is unlikely to be doing the redo. I would go back to the repairing dealer, tell them that the noise is unacceptable, and give them a chance to fix it. If they can't, I recommend the OP goes to another shop. We don't even know that it is the brakes. The noise was reported to be there before and after the brake job.
