Rear Mounted Bicycle Rack

Just an FYI...

Just got the rear mounted bike rack (the one for X5's w/o the hitch)... for my mountain bikes.

Some comments
- I previously had the Thule T2 which I liked a lot... so I will use it as comparison

- This rack is much much lighter which I like better because I don't like to keep the rack on the car

- This rack has a locking mechanisms for both to the car and to the bike. Though the lock to the bike is probably to prevent a casual theft

- The build quality and design is excellent.. probably a few more second to secure a bike than the Thule rack.

- I have not attached it to the X5 yet but it looks straight forward but more complicated than a hitch rack

- It does not extend out as far as the Thule rack which I also like better however it does not tilt up.

- I'll post some more once I start using it.

- Finally, the price is a bit outrageous. I asked the local dealer to match this price of $399 (Parts.com) he did. made it more palatable.
