I know there is a Hybrid, but I haven't seen a diesel for the U.S. market.

M3, 535i or X6?
New ride or new experience? If you are looking for a new experience I would take the M3. X6 is ALMOST just like the X5. 535 hmm boring for the money. Ask yourself first what you are looking for.

Not even close... Two completely different animals. The similarities end as soon as you get past the nose and the front interior. The ride and handling are completely different.

X5FX - I suggest you try and do an extended test drive. Trust me. I'm obviously biased. I don't know what your needs and wants are but do not assume it's the same as the X5.

the X6 is a beast, especially the ///M version. The handling is absolutely ridiculous. I think the best color for it is white (sorry cmyx6go--black is second)

I think you are comparing apples to oranges on this one. The ///M3 is not even close to the X6 segment. I thing the only thing they share in common is the name plate. I had to make a similar decision. For me it's a nobrainer....the X6 ///M is hella nice, but I don't have a need for all the room. That was about 90% of my decision to sell my 4.6is and get the 650i. After owning 2 E53's reality kicked in. Now faced with my lease ending soon, I really wanted to jump on a X6 ///M. But after careful consideration and knowing that I jump out of my X because I didn't need the room, my decision was made. ///M3 coming soon. So I guess I say all of this to say.....you have to consider your needs before you make this purchase.....Phil

I agree. The X5/6 M's are fast as hell, but they are "trucks" ok, "SAV's" that are much heavier, have a much higher center of gravity and do not come with a manual trans. Not to mention turbo power vs. N/A. They are both M's, but at opposite ends of the M spectrum.

X6 at least has a usable back seat. Score one for the X6 being the "utilitarian" one. I wonder if it will be facelifted for '12 to match all the other cars with the new taillights, etc.

And there will be an option coming shortly to convert the currently unusable mid-section of the rear seat in the X6 to that of the X5 seat configuration from the factory - will help those needing more usable space in the rear.

Cheers,

Cheers,
Is this true?! That was the primary factor reason why we went with the X5 over the X6.

On a side note: Drove the new 5 series at a BMW Ultimate drive event (both the 535 and 550). Although they are both great cars (wouldn't mind having either of them), when I got back into my X5 the first thing that immediately jumped out was "comfort". The X5 is really more comfortable (with the higher vantage point and larger cabin space).

But the 5 is more sporty of a drive.

Get an M5!! I would say that though even though its 3 years old, I love it to bits, I had a 2009 m3 convert just to sell on last month, was very nice to drive but the m5 felt quicker and nicer to drive, the m3 convert is more flashy which I'm not really into, absolutly love the the car, just don't like everyone staring all the time but I think that probably goes with any convertible, the m3 coupe probably wouldn't get no where near as much looks, the m5 is quite a subtle monster which is what I love about it even with the 21inch hartge rims, it still looks subtle, some people don't even realise its an M5!
I just love cars that blend in but a real monsters, also like the audi RS4, dare I mention an audi on here!

Only you can decide what car you get next! No one else!

Good luck anyway!
